Year book spread Proposal - October 21, 2010

I will be creating a page in the year book called “Breaking Away.” This spread will have at least seven images and they will reflect breaking away from some old friends when starting at a new school. The photos will show that since they are entering high school they are breaking away and trying new things, moving on from old things, and breaking away and making new friends. They are also breaking away from middle school and starting off at high school where things can be quite different. I will photograph these photos at school during this class when we have time to go out and take the photos. I plan to have these pictures captured around the end of next week or the beginning of the week after.

Portrait - October 21 2010

This is a portrait picture that was taken, than i edited it. I changed the levels on it and brightness and contrast. We turned it into a black and white photo. We also duplicated the layer so that we could use the surface blur, and than erase the eyes, hair, and lips to sharpen it and make those certain areas stand out more. While the face itself was slightly blurred. We than flattened the image, and it turned out like this.

Fall Light - October 8, 2010

This picture represents fall light.  I used levels, contrast/brightness and colour balance as my protocols. There are leading lines, rule of thirds, and layers in this photo. The leading lines are the shadows that draw a line toward the tree. The rule of thirds comes from the two points of interests which is the main tree and than the other tree by the fence. I used layers to make the background not stand out as much, so that the trees, shadows, grass and pineneedles would stand out more in the photo.

This is another photo that represents fall light. As protocols I used brightness/contrast and levels. But in this photo it has leading lines, duotone, and layers. The leading lines is the shadows that leads to the tree. The duotone is the change from colour to a more brown colour. And the layers was used to enhance the shadows and make them stand out better.

This is another picture that has rule of thirds, duotone and layers. I used the protocols brightness/contrast, levels, and blurred out the background. The rule of thirds are the two points of interest which is the two mushrooms. The duotone is from the change of coloured to duotone. The layers was used to enhance the grass and I erased the mushrooms to make them not stand out as much.

Rule of Thirds - October 6, 2010

This is a picture of Rule of Thirds. We did this assignment to introduce the concept of dividing the compstition into thirds and putting the subjects at different points, that are not in the middle. By using the Rule of Thirds you can have more than one subject of interest in the photo, which makes the photo more interesting when having more than one subject of interest.
